As a part of its ongoing commitment to philanthropy, OK Group set up a 10MM yuan fund — the equivalent of 1.44 MM US dollars — to combat the coronavirus crisis and support victims in Wuhan, China. Announced January 27, the donation will be managed and distributed by the China Charity Federation, which issues pensions to frontline medical staff and provides supplies in affected regions. OK Group founder Star Xu notes that “OK Group will fully support the Chinese government in fighting the novel coronavirus.” As a part of the OK Group family, the team at OKCoin is glad to support this humanitarian effort.
The recent outbreak of the coronavirus has escalated quickly, spreading across every region of China and even to the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As of writing, there have been over 8,000 cases globally, and 171 deaths so far. The epidemic has even surpassed the scale of the SARS outbreak in 2003. As a global leader in fintech and blockchain, with offices based around the world, OK Group recognized the disastrous impact this disease has brought around the world. The OK Group seeks to demonstrate corporate social responsibility and take an active role in preventing the disease’s spread.
Following the announcement, OK Group began to make hands-on contributions to the cause by sourcing and purchasing necessities from around the globe. The first batch of medicines and supplies have already been delivered to the world’s most severely-impacted regions. Just two days later, 100,000 medical supply kits donated by OK Group left for shipment to China. The supplies are expected to arrive very soon at seven hospitals across Wuhan, Xianning, Huanggang, Ezhou, Hanzhong, and Hong’an. The company plans to provide ongoing donations to help this cause.
