Why we redesigned the OKCoin web experience for crypto traders and investors
Just as the crypto markets are always evolving, we believe it’s critical to continually evolve our user experience and design. This is especially important when onboarding new customers to crypto assets. We believe it is important to clearly provide the information and tools needed for new traders and investors to succeed on our platform.
Starting with the foundation
In the last 30 days, we have been testing different variations of a new homepage design. We started this endeavor with a few goals in mind:
- Delight new customers through a modern and intuitive user experience
- Explain things clearly and inspire newcomers
- Be clear about our strengths
We started this process with research. Our aim was to discover the things our customers liked about us the most and ways we could inspire new customers to get involved with crypto assets.
We used the insights from the research to radically redesign our homepage — one of the most important properties.
We’d like to share a few of these findings with you:
Where we landed
Our design and marketing teams started with a list of feature priorities based on research and internal data we had on existing user engagement. This coupled with our user research led us to prioritize the following:
- A cleaner look and feel, and moving away from the use of darker colors on web
- A clear value proposition and call to action
- Making sure the assets we support are more discoverable
- Highlighting the 3 easy steps to get started
- Featuring all the ways (apps) available for customers to trade
- Our key strengths such as low fees, top grade security, and best uptime
The result?

Imagine a world where everyone is a trader. Our mission is to make crypto investing and trading accessible to anyone around the world. It’s our north star and why we are building the next generation of tools to help onboard the investors and traders who have been on the fence about crypto.
Trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies shouldn’t be just for experienced traders, everyone should be able to participate. Today we’re at a pivotal moment in crypto’s evolution; it’s our responsibility to create usability for any trader to enter the market frictionlessly and reliably. Looking at what lies ahead of us, it’s clear that the future of crypto has a lot of exciting things to come. The years ahead look bright. This new homepage is a step towards setting ourselves up for that future and for providing the best experience we have to offer.
