What’s ApeCoin (APE) token?
The release of ApeCoin (APE) has been one of the most anticipated in the NFT community due to the massive popularity of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) series. APE is the ERC-20 governance token that will be used to run the ApeCoin DAO, the community built around BAYC. APE will allow holders to access exclusive features of the ApeCoin ecosystem such as games and services.
APE’s total supply is fixed at 1 billion tokens, which have all been minted at once. Only 30% of the supply has been put in circulation from the date of the launch and 62% has been allocated to an Ecosystem Fund dedicated to community-driven initiatives that APE holders will be able to vote on.
Despite having launched very recently APE has already found some utility: Rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa released, last week, eight tracks as NFTs on the themes of APE and BAYC. The 8000 music NFTs can only be bought using APE. 👀
